His Hebrew name is Yeแธฅezqel (ืְืֶืְืงֵืื) , meaning: "God strengthens" or "May God strengthen." Unlike Amos (a shepherd) or Jeremiah (from a priestly family but called primarily as a prophet), Ezekiel actually served as a priest before becoming a prophet.
