Where Does My Prayer Go?

I created this blog at the time the Philippines mourn for the lost of more than 1000 men, women, and children buried beneath a 30-meter landslide. Barangay Guinsaugon, a 1000-hectare town in St. Bernard Southern Leyte, was totally covered by soil and rocks from the nearby mountain. One school, 3 churches, hundreds of family homes, in 5 minutes, vanished from the map of St. Bernard. About 300 students and 7 teachers were in the school when the deadly landslide happened. There were reports that a few of them tried to contact their relatives and friends through their cell phones. So it was possible that they may might still be alive that time.

At that time, I requested for prayers.
"So, let's pray that they may be rescued alive. Let's also pray for those who didn't make it."
I had a radical thought. Where do our prayers go? Do they travel through wave lengths? If I post a prayer on the Internet, what happens to that prayer in digital format? So, I imagine that prayer in digital format, invisible to the naked eye, travelling through thick fiber optic cables, then transmitted to space via satellite. If these prayers are visible, how do they look like in space? Can the angels bumped into them and actually see them?

I have a radical thought. The moment I post this prayer - this prayer - in digital format, travels through space - from the Philippines, where I'm typing now, to USA, which hosts this blog site. There are no cables that connect the Philippines and USA. The prayer, a digital information, travels through phone cables, then through space to a satellite, then through space again to a place in USA. So imagine that invisible prayer travelling through space. If you believe in angels and other spiritual friends, maybe they could see this prayer as it travels through space. And maybe, they could pick that prayer and bring it to heaven.
It may sound absurd. But let's try. Maybe this is part of the good side of technology. Let's pray for our loved ones, for our country, for our health, for our environment. Let's pray for the strangers, like the people in the government who needs spiritual transformation. Let's pray for the victims of war and other tragedies around the world. Let's pray for peace and the victims of terrorism. Let's pray. Who knows? Our prayer may journey to our God.

I also believe in the power of prayer, that when we say a sincere one it is heard by God and the people concerned. Now, I pause to pray for those that are still awake, fighting for strength, starvation, dehydration, loneliness, fear and still buried in the underground. May God and His angels stay with them. May a glimpse of hope brought by this chain of prayers strengthen them, gives them peace and comfort that God nor men have never abandoned them... Amen.
